JD Vance’s recent comments about Haitian immigrants are not only harmful but also patently false. Spreading baseless accusations like claims of people “eating cats” and “terrorizing communities” isn’t just fear-mongering—it’s irresponsible and dangerous. These kinds of statements fuel division and perpetuate harmful stereotypes, which do nothing to solve real issues facing our communities. Haitian immigrants, like all people, contribute positively to our economy, culture, and society. Instead of scapegoating, we should be focusing on constructive solutions that bring communities together and address actual problems, not manufactured ones. Our country deserves leadership that uplifts all its residents, not one that tears us apart with fear and lies.

My discerning clients are often looking for one-of-a-kind experiences, so anytime I travel, I take the opportunity to explore hidden gems. This private Hacienda, brought to life by Laura and Richard took my breath away. @haciendasubin is a romantic, ancient ruin, just outside of Merida, the historic capital of the state of Yucatan. A former rancho and henequen plantation, the nearly 40 acre property includes a “Casa Principal” fronted by 11 Moorish arches, a Porfiriano style machine house and a a grand swimming pool surrounded by ancient Mayan stones and an elegant pool house.
Imagine executive retreats, weddings, birthday blowouts, welcome parties against this storied backdrop? Bringing in award winning chefs from Mexico for farm to table experiences, creating an artisan fair to greet guests with incredible handmade gifts? The pool has stones that have been repurposed from a Mayan temple and there is an actual preserved Mayan hut on the property. Retreat anyone? Yes.
