Always a transformative experience producing an event at the New World Center. A result of collaboration between New World Symphony co-founder Michael Tilson Thomas and Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry, the New World Center is an architectural gem adjacent to Miami Beach SoundScape park in the heart of South Beach. The New World Center features multiple flexible spaces, cutting edge media equipment, six stories of natural light and views of the iconic Miami Beach Art Deco skyline all perfectly situated between dramatic ocean and bay vistas.

Luxe Fete staged the Knight Foundation’s Catalyst Art Forum at the New World Symphony, an institution that is making the most of its digital opportunities for the betterment of Miami and classical music.

An honor to support Knight Foundation in producing their inaugural arts forum, Catalyst - Digital Transformation in the Arts during Art Basel. As shared in an op-ed piece in the Miami Herald by Howard Herring: “The result was evident at Catalyst. Art museums in cyberspace, a robotic sculpture that responded to improvised music, a sound installation whose complexity is only possible in a digital platform and performative video synchronized with live musical presentation. Each example of artistic expression invited speculation about its next iteration. Miami Art Week is about today’s Miami. Catalyst is about tomorrow. Thanks to the Knight Foundation. As evident at the Catalyst symposium, we have already begun to define the next Miami. Artistic activity amplified by digital tools gives our city a significant added dimension. Axé comes from the Yoruba word àṣẹ, meaning “soul, light, spirit or good vibrations.” It is a common greeting in Bahia. On our last night we had a luau on the beach. It was a beautiful full moon that lit up the ocean and our hearts. Someone strolling along the shore that night shouted it out to our group: “Axé!” That pretty much sums it all up. And just like that it was our last night together in Trancoso. We started with an amazing Brazilian BBQ (lobster, shrimp, all cuts of meat) and acaraje (a dish brought to Bahia from the depths of Western Africa) at the restaurant of one of my favorite people ever, Fatima, owner of @ocacau. Belly full, slightly tipsy, we then made our way down to Uxua beach for a Full Moon White Party (Part II). But before sharing more, I must note how the magic of the event, in addition to the warm welcome of Bahia, had everything to do with our guests. Love you guys!!!

When rain adds magic to your event. Thank you Universe for this very special Brunch at @floresta_trancoso. Farm to table food served in the middle of a rubber tree farm. Words simply can’t describe the charm of this restaurant. An open kitchen, wood stove and the revered Dona Jandira, the chef who is a descendant of Indians and well known figure in the region. The restaurant does not have a menu, but a dish of the day, which you discover when you arrive. Dona Jandira gifted me with the most delicious Brazilian hot sauce that I can’t wait to serve at my home. In addition to our friends breaking bread, the best part was watching the girls toast their Dad. So much love for him. So well deserved. #Theophilus50
